Tufts-New England Medical Center Imaging South

Tufts-New England Medical Center Imaging South, a New England Quality Care Alliance affiliate, is an outpatient diagnostic imaging center that offers state-of-the-art, world-class diagnostic imaging to patients closer to home.

Located at 340 Wood Road in Braintree, Mass., the center offers all-digital, diagnostic imaging with direct access to specialists at Tufts-New England Medical Center, one of the major academic medical centers in Boston. With access to Sorian applications, NEQCA physicians are conveniently able to view images immediately on their office PCs. Services available at the new site include Digital Radiography, CT Scans, Nuclear Cardiology Exams and Ultrasounds.

Digital Radiography

Digital Radiography exams are performed on the Siemens AXIOM Multix M system that utilizes a flat panel system, eliminating the need for cassette processing.  The AXIOM Multix M system sets the standard for ease of operation.  Its floating tabletop is designed to increase maneuverability, accelerate patient flow and make examinations simple and comfortable. Its solid construction can easily handle examinations of patients weighing up to 500 lbs. (227 kg). After an exam, the digital information is read, processed and displayed in the image station’s control monitor. The image is then immediately sent to a diagnostic review station to be reviewed by the radiologist.  This efficient system allows for higher patient volume and reduces patient wait time.

CT Scans

A full-range of diagnostic CT Scan exams are performed on the Siemens Emotion 16 Scanner.  This scanner provides 16-slice technology and a comprehensive set of clinical applications in a compact package, allowing the center to take advantage of high-level CT imaging.

The Emotion 16 only requires under 200 square feet of space because the system is air cooled and does not need to add an external cooling device.  It offers every advantage of a modern 16-slice system and with a reconstruction speed of up to 16 images per second, the Emotion 16 allows for quick and efficient diagnoses. Additionally, the Emotion 16 is equipped with comprehensive CARE (Combined Applications to Reduce Exposure) functions, Siemens’ initiative to reduce radiation exposure in CT examinations.  It greatly simplifies scanning procedures and results in the best image quality with the lowest possible radiation dose. The Siemens Emotion product line has been proven in almost 3500 installations worldwide, making it among the most successful product lines in computed tomography (CT) history.

Nuclear Cardiology Exams

Nuclear Cardiology exams will be performed on the Siemens C-cam system.  The C-cam system ensures that the patient’s experience will be as comfortable as possible while providing superior image quality. It offers a unique “reclining chair” that allows patients to sit back and relax comfortably during scanning.  This feature is particularly important for those patients who are unable to lie flat due to pre-existing medical conditions including back pain, lung disease, arthritis, or obesity. The more comfortable patients are during their exam, the less they will move, which leads to less artifacts, resulting in clearer images and diagnostic accuracy. 

Ultrasound

Ultrasounds are conducted in two exam rooms using the Siemens Sequoia series. Both rooms are available for all routine ultrasounds and one room has Cardiac Echocardiography capability.  The advanced technology of Sequoia involves enhanced image detail, superior contrast resolution and penetration, as well as excellent color Doppler sensitivity at depth.  The Siemens Sequoia ultrasound system features patient-specific imaging technology, designed to adapt to each patient’s individual needs.  The system’s matched response technology can measure and adapt in real time to a patient’s individual acoustic properties. This allows for greater diagnostic ability as well as enhanced work flow efficiency and convenience.
